GETTING TO BLUE SKY

Blue Sky Cabins is in the small ranching community of Luther, Montana, a “suburb” of Red Lodge. (25 minutes driving time to Red Lodge)

“Blue Sky” is located in Carbon County, about 80 miles from Billings, Montana or 80 miles from Cody, Wyoming.  (1 and a 1/2 hours driving time) And 2 1/2 hours from Bozeman, Montana & Yellowstone International Airport. 2 1/2 hours from the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone National Park.

We are 19 miles northwest of Red Lodge off of Highway #78, (25 minutes driving time) 20 miles south of Absarokee and about 6 miles southeast of Roscoe.

Yellowstone National Park is about 90 miles away. (The Northeast Entrance)  It’s best to allow at least 2 1/2  hours driving time to the Park via the Beartooth Pass from “Blue Sky”,  due to the scenic, winding, mountain driving.  Note:  The Beartooth Highway is only open from Memorial Weekend to mid October due to heavy snowfall.  Please be aware that snow can close The Beartooth Highway at any time!  Always plan for an alternate route.

Chief Joseph Highway (#296): alternative route from Northeast entrance of Yellowstone Park when The Beartooth Highway is closed.  Also very scenic!  Highways #296 to #120/72 to #308 into Red Lodge.

You can also access Yellowstone National Park through the North Entrance near Gardiner Montana.  153 miles from “Blue Sky”, 3 hours driving time.

Or you can access Yellowstone National Park through the East Entrance near Cody, Wyoming.  132 miles from “Blue Sky”, 2 1/2 hours driving time.

If headed south from Columbus on Highway 78, travel approx. 27 mi. through Absarokee & past Roscoe. Past Roscoe, still on highway #78, you will climb a BIG hill.  At the bottom of the hill, make a right turn onto a gravel road called Metcalf RD.  (just 2 miles past Roscoe).  Watch for a Switchback Ranch Sign on the right.  Travel approx. 1.2 mi. on the Metcalf Road (gravel road) to the Luther/Roscoe Road & 1st stop sign.  Turn left, then travel 2.9 miles.  At the “Y” turn right towards 2 Switchback ranch gates & then a quick left at Luoma Ranch Rd. (mailboxes on your right) You will go past a paved landing strip & then you will see our Blue Sky Lane sign on the right & our Blue Sky Log Entry Gate.

If headed north from Red Lodge on Highway 78, you will turn at the SECOND Luther sign. (Lower Luther Road) It also says (Red Lodge Creek Canyon National Forest access Road) and just before Mile marker 13.

Once on Lower Luther Road, travel about 2.25 miles, take a right on to the Luther/Roscoe Road and you will be in downtown Luther (School, and fire station on your right, a couple of houses on your left).  Continue straight on the Luther/Roscoe Road for 2 miles, you will come to a “Y”, stay to the left. (You will see 2 Switchback gates ahead of you)  Then turn left on Luoma Ranch Road.  Proceed up the road driving past the small paved landing strip.  You will then see our Blue Sky Lane sign on the right and our “Blue Sky” Log Gate and the cabins.
