Montana has very changeable weather & even in July, we can get snow in the higher elevations. You can click on this link for more on the average temperatures & climate in our area. http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/red-lodge-mt/59068/weather-forecast/334213 (Highlight the link & click to go to it.) You can advance to any month for average high’s & low’s. These are the historic averages, however, you need to be prepared for just about any type of weather in Montana! We can start to see some snow in the higher elevations in September & by early October we can get snow at our elevation. The snow usually melts quickly because of the warm ground, so we can still see very nice Fall weather. It is constantly changing!! In November & December, we can get a lot of snow or have very little. Again it can vary a lot & predicting how much snow we will have at any time is almost impossible. As far as travelling here, rarely are the roads completely closed or impassible. Our neighboring ranchers need to get out & feed cattle no matter what, so the roads are usually plowed as soon as possible & we plow our own roads around the cabins. We do recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle or at least an all-wheel drive vehicle from October-May. Some of our heaviest snows are in the spring! You can also go to our What to Bring Page for more details on clothing to pack. Plan to wear layered clothing for quick temperature changes. Activities of course will be weather dependent, but you can check our activities page for a list of things to do in the summer & winter.
In the winter & spring months, October to May, we recommend a 4-wheel drive or at least a front wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle. The roads are rarely impassable however and the county roads are plowed as well as the main highways. Our nearby ranchers need to get out and feed cattle no matter what, so there is rarely a problem. If you would like to do some off-road travel to some high mountain lakes, you may still want a 4-wheel drive with high clearance to experience the backcountry.
The elevation here is 5,500 feet. The elevation at the top of The Beartooth Highway is 10,947 feet. The highest peak in Montana, Granite Peak is 12,799.
Billings, Montana is our closest airport. 1 1/2 hours driving time. Bozeman, Montana also has an airport, Yellowstone International at 2 1/2 hours driving time. Cody, Wyoming also has an airport at 1 1/2 hours driving time.
There is no shuttle service to ‘Blue Sky’ & taxi service is limited & expensive. You will need to rent a vehicle for your stay. We are 19 miles from the nearest town & you will want to be able to tour all of the amazing sights in our area with your own vehicle.

‘Blue Sky’ makes a beautiful setting for a couple wanting to tie the knot. However, we can only accommodate small ceremonies. If you have 25 people or less, you can book 1 cabin for a minimum of 2 nights & a $100.00 use fee. If you have 50 people or less, you will need to reserve all 5 cabins.
